The Annual Meeting of the Historical Archaeological Society (HAS) is the Society’s primary forum for professional exchange, governance, and collaboration. Each year, members gather to present research, discuss field methods, participate in workshops, and engage in Society leadership through elections and business meetings.
HAS conferences bring together practitioners, educators, students, and affiliated professionals working across academic, cultural resource management, and public archaeology settings.
The 91st Annual Meeting will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, and will feature:


Networking events and informal discussion forums
This meeting continues HAS’s long-standing tradition of advancing historical archaeology through rigorous scholarship and professional engagement.
Members present original research, field results, and methodological advances that contribute to the interpretation of historically documented pasts.
Hands-on and instructional sessions focused on excavation methods, documentation standards, artifact analysis, reporting, and emerging technologies.
The Annual Meeting includes the election of Society officers and Executive Board members, ensuring transparent, member-led leadership in accordance with HAS bylaws.
HAS encourages participation from students and early-career archaeologists through presentation opportunities, mentoring, and professional development sessions.
HAS welcomes contributions from members and non-members engaged in historical archaeology. Calls for papers, posters, symposia, and workshops are announced in advance of each Annual Meeting.
